Information for 2008 Coming soon... 2007's Shop Rat Chopper Build-off Young Shop Rats Participate
The Shop Rats of Michigan have thrown down the gauntlet and have challenged the Shop Rats of Chelsea, Alabama to a “build off’ that will culminate at the Jackson Wheels of Thunder Presented by Shop Rat on June 8th – 9th in downtown Jackson. The Shop Rat organization provides educational classes for middle school students to learn how to use their minds and their hands. The classes meet on Saturdays, with the students applying math and science skills in a hands-on environment. These young Shop Rats learn teambuilding, work ethic and how to give back to their community. The motorcycles they build in the Shop Rat Classes have been donated to charity.
Both the Jackson students and the Chelsea students will be working hard over the next few months to build a motorcycle chopper. Both classes will be building from identical parts and will present the bikes to thousands of spectators in downtown Jackson at the event. Shop Rat encourages you to help enrich the educational value of these kids lives by considering a donation, whether it be time or money, and participate in challenging the next generation of skilled tradesman to be Shop Rat Proud!!!
